| Old Xavius Mage Guest | Old Xavius Mage (17th Jan 09 at 8:51pm UTC) | | First off, I will start by telling you a little story about myself.
I started playing WoW in 2005, as an alliance priest. I dinged 60 on the priest and managed to beg myself into a raiding guild on the server of Kor'gall. This guild had just started doing MC and ZG. I raided with them for 7 months, killing both Ragnaros and Hakkar, renewing and flash healing for 4 hours 5 nights a week But I knew that I wasn't a healer, and I also knew I was a little old for the players on the alliance side of Kor'Gall, so I rerolled a mage on the horde side on Hellscream.
I took my time leveling this mage up to level 60, and when I dinged 60, I joined a fantastic guild called Nepthilia. It was perfect for me in every way and we managed to clear MC, ZG, AQ20, Onyxia and even kill some bosses in BWL.
Then the expansion hit us, and like Illidan said, we were not prepared. At all. We never managed to get started in Karazhan properly, 4 of the officers in the guild quit 5 weeks after we dinged 70. Eventually the guild died.
Hellscream, at the time was no place to start looking for another guild, as all the guilds were pretty bad, and I don't mean just progress-wise. I started looking for a new server, a server that was a PvP server as that would not limit me should I want to transfer in the future. So I started leveling my blood elf mage in May 2007, by june 2007 I was level 70 and got into Release your Potential.
In RyP, we raided pretty hardcore from Karazhan to SSC and TK, but at the time, the recruitment situation on the server was horrible. The officers of RyP decided we were to merge with Pestilence, and so, the guild Plan C was formed.
I was offered the role of Mage CL in Plan C, and everything was great. We became the fastest progressing guild on the server, clearing SSC, TK and 4/5 MH 2/9 BT on under 2 months. But, as most mergers turn out, we were still two guilds, but with a common guild tag. There were internal conflicts and some of the members loved causing drama. I left the guild when I was offered to join Obscure, I raided with them for a short time, but rl issues and work related stuff made me take a long break from raiding. I got to stay as a social member.
In 2008, Obscure was leaving the server. I did not really want to go to Skullcrusher so I could be a social member there as well, so I took my chances on TiM and made an application there. I was accepted in TiM, and they invited me to their guild.
I don't really know what happened in TiM, but they never seemed to like me, they arent the friendliest of folks to put it that way. The class leader in TiM for mages was horrible. He went inactive, he demanded you pick stupid gems for your tier 6 pieces etc. Thankfully, he rolled a shaman and didnt bother the mages anymore. But, TiM still felt like a place that was a little hostile, and I just could not find a way to fit in there.
In June 2008, I let my CL in TiM know that I was going to transfer my character to another server, this was mainly because TiM was the only raiding guild left on the server, and I didnt want to be a member of their guild. I picked the server all the people I knew well on Xavius picked when they dissappeared, namely Magtheridon.
Magtheridon is WoW's version of hell. This is the place where all the ninjalooters, asshats, arrogant pricks and psychos are sent when they die. In 5 months on Magtheridon, I met about 25 ppl that wasnt complete assholes. I formed a guild with these people, clearing MH and 8/9 BT, and we also sticked together a bit into WotLK. In WotLK, many of these people quit, forcing our guild to do 10 mans or recruit said ninjalooters etc. That was not an option, so a few of us went to zenedar 2 weeks ago.
The truth is, I really miss the Xavius community, and I would love to go back here. I am on transfer cooldown, but I figured I may start looking for a decent well run guild here now, and see what my chances on joining are. And to be quite honest, your guild is the guild that looks the best for me here.
I am a guy that likes to hang out on vent, I like to raid, I like to achieve something PvE wise, and I am a relatively experienced raider.
So, after having explained my background a bit, I am ready to fill out your application template and try my luck.
Character name, race and class :
Lemmiwink, Blood Elf Mage
Give us a review of your current gear (Armory profile preferably) : http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Zenedar&n=Lemmiwink
The reason my shoulders are unenchanted is that I dinged 80 pretty soon after release, then Xmas was around the corner and I didnt get to play properly until recently. Raiding was what I had time for. Will surely buy Shattrath enchants for them until I am exalted with Sons of Hodir.
As a frostfire mage (0/53/18) I have done the best I could with the gear I had available. Gearing for as much crit and haste as I could in addition to not sacrificing too much hit and spelldamage. I feel I can work alot on my gear atm. I am not content with it so far.
What talent build will you use to raid with us, and why? (Please include a link):
At the moment, the highest DPS output for a mage is 0/53/18 (you can see exactly how I am specced on armory), and the rotation is mostly scorch up, living bomb, frostfirebolt spam and let off the pyroblast every time you hot strike procs. And ofc, remember to keep up living bomb whenever it explodes. For nuking, I pop combustion, icy veins, mirror image (not always though, depends on the fight) and Mark of the War Prisoner trinket when the target is below 35% health. I strive to study rotations to do the best possible DPS for my gear level.
You are expected to respec if the guild requests it, are you happy to do so? :
Being a guild leader, and having alot of experience in asking others to respec, I would never resist respeccing if an officer asks me to. I am experienced with all mage specs, so you can always count on me knowing how to spec as well.
Where is your current location, and how old are you? :
I live in a small town in Northern Norway called Alta, or the city of the Northern Light for people unfamiliar with it. I am almost 25 (in february) and I work at a fish farm in middle management.
What are your current professions and at what skill level are they? Why did you pick them? :
I am an enchanter (439/460 atm, really expensive) and a tailorer ( 434, i heard a rumour about skill up prices going down with 3.0.8 and I can make my own leg enchants/embroidery so I haven't bothered just yet. I am stocking up on mats tho, so I can take it up pretty fast if needed.)
What is your previous raiding experience? ( Be 100% honest! ):
Vanilla WoW: Molten Core - cleared, ZG - cleared, AQ20 - cleared, Onyxia - cleared, BWL - 3 first bosses.
Burning Crusade: Karazhan - cleared, Gruul's Lair - cleared, Magtheridon's Lair - cleared, Serpentshrine Caverns - cleared, Tempest Keep (The Eye) - cleared, Mount Hyjal and Black Temple - cleared in November 2007, but I didnt get my achievements for them at first when the achievement system was launched, due to not posessing loot or having completed quests for them. Also didnt get my achievement for gruul's or magtheridon until recently, so the dates of kill will vary from what I tell you here since I went back and killed them after achievements were released as well.
All Burning Crusade kills were pre-nerf, and I posess the title: Hand of A'dal
Wrath of the Lich King: Naxxramas normal: cleared Sartharion Normal: cleared with one drake up Eye of Eternity normal: cleared Naxxramas heroic: plague quarter and arachnid quarter Sartharion heroic: cleared and have less is more achievement. Eye of Eternity heroic: cleared
What raiding guilds have you been part of, and why did you leave them? :
I will start with Xavius on this, listing guilds and the reason I left.
RyP- Merged with Pestilence to form Plan C Plan C - Got sick of the drama in both /o chat adn /g chat, and the fact that no one did anything about the person causing drama. I got accepted in Obscure and changed guilds.
Obscure - I was just getting into their raiding style when my workload got doubled over night. I had to work double shifts for nearly 4 months so didn't get time for raiding at all. When my workload got easier, Obscure was leaving the server.
This is madness - A friend of mine joined them, said they were alright and cool people, however, they never seemed to like me for some reason, except for Silente, which was the only guy I talked to in TiM. I got a little fed up of TiM in the summer and did not see myself on a server where TiM was the only guild that raided. I would not bet on them to give me any good reviews, since the two friends I had in TiM left them when I transfered to join me on Magtheridon.
Now to Magtheridon
We formed a guild with some friends on Magtheridon where the idea was to have a relaxed attitude towards WoW, not join in on the constant retardness of demanding players with full tier 6 for an heroic run. We called the guild Tirisfalen, I made a website for it, got a vent channel and we raided. The website I made can be found here: http://tirisfalen.net When the server transfers to Zenedar reopened in January, a few of us jumped on it. We re-guilded under the name CRAYONS LOL, and have done some small scale raiding there. But most people that came with us, wants to go to Stormscale when the transfer cooldown is over, and Stormscale is just the same as Magtheridon I've heard, and I really miss the Xavius community alot.
Will you be able to attend all of our raids (Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs, Possible Friday's 19:30 - 0:00, and Sunday 19:30 - 0:00 server time)? If not, which can you specifically not attend and why?:
I am not gonna lie to you and say: Yes, I will attend 100% of your raids. I can probably make all the raids, but I have experienced a WoW burnout before, and would prefer attending around 80% of raids. Of course, when there is new content, I am usually really eager to do 100% and happily 6 hours+ each of the raiding days. But when you start farming instances, interest usually drops a bit, and you will sign for a bit less. But on Progress raids, attending 5/5 wont be a problem.
Do you know how to use Ventrilo, and are you able to? :
I rent my own ventrilo server, and will happily speak on vent if asked to, and I always pay attention to what is said.
Have you lead raids before? If so, to where and how often? :
Yes, I lead raids on a 10 man scale each week, I have lead all the WotLK raids and also SSC,TK,MH and BT in TBC. Been doing this for about 6 months now.
Do you know anyone in Requiem who could give you a character reference? :
Unfortunately I don't. All I can do is tell you I am a decent player that knows my class and always do my job in raids.
When did you first start to play the game, and have you kept playing since then?:
I started playing this game in september 2005, and have been playing it since. I played a mage since spring 2006.
What other mmo's have you played? :
Star Wars: Galaxies (4-5 weeks) Everquest (2 months) Anarchy Online (3 months) Final Fantasy XI (a few weeks) Age of Conan (2 days)
As you can see, I tried my share of MMO's, but none of them was what I was looking for. Age of Conan is my least favorite mmo so far.
Any other facts you'd like us to know? (e.g. Alt Chars- Your chance to impress us if you haven't already!):
Well, I got a few alts, level 70+ all with epic flyers. But I doubt I want to play them much. I concider myself faithful to my main, and I love it too much to enjoy alt's all that much.
Additional info that you might find interesting:
I do some web design, I am acustomed to programming languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP and a bit of Java. I am also familiar with the linux OS Ubuntu and programs such as LAMP, GIMP and several other programs.
I am generally a laid back, intelligent person and I am a fast learner. Socially, I can be a little sarcastic at times. And sometimes I might even turn to fart humor, not often though.
Last, I am sorry for the free-form wall of text you just read through, but I am one of those people that always wants to leave a good first impression on others, hence the long introduction. As I said in the application already, I have 18 days left on my transfer cooldown, but I hope you will still concider me as a possible future member.
Thank you for your time, hope to hear from you soon

We will keep you in mind if any spots crop up, so if you could leave some contact deals that would be great.
Also wish the best of luck to you finding a guild to suit your needs. | |
